The HD System

The HD system (HDs for short, pronounced “heads”) is a system for use in role-playing games. It follows suit of the classical style, otherwise known as old-school, but might find application in trad, narrative or lyric style of game play with enough curiosity. The basic framework of the HD system is the fluctuation of the Hit Dice, a general measure of the capability of a character. This measure can go up or down many times within a given campaign, session, or scenario.

The HD system can be supplemented with mechanics for any number of stats or abilities. The straightforward resolution being roll 2d6 added to an ability number over a result of 20 to pass, but this can be swapped with the dice of your choice or all together replaced or removed. It doesn’t really matter all that much.

Rules (combat, social, downtime, fishing, marriage, divorce, etc) can be peppered in. Play to taste.

Thoughts on 1,000 Statues

God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, or Pearls Before Swine by Kurt Vonnegut

1,000 statues is a dungeon. If it can be played is something I don’t care about.

There is a thinking adventures principle: try and be brave. I will add something, and this goes hand-in-hand with this principle without adding much: try and be curious.

The notebook is made and bound by Thriftomancer sent by way of Jarrett Crader as a gift. Jert’s package was trapped in the mailbox over a few stormy days and became soaked.

The process follows: room layout was drawn, then ordered by alphabetical letter and then written with some edits here and there. Intention was at best washed away or at worst pitifully submerged.

1,000 statues is not faithful and it pays no homage. It is a hack and cruel work. It is lonesome and it is entirely personal, so, sorry about that. I know some of you will hate that. Who cares. Grow up. Cowards.

If I have any advice on playing 1,000 statues it is this: take care of the little things. It is easy to be distrustful.
